Our recent visit to an Indian Coast Guard ship at the Chennai Port Trust turned into an incredible day that our children won’t soon forget.
This visit to the offshore patrol vessel ICGS Sujay was not just a tour, it was an enriching experience that each of us present during the tour will cherish. It provided a unique opportunity to learn about maritime safety, appreciate the Coast Guard’s vital role, and ignite a sense of wonder in our children. Seeing and knowing about the mighty 105 m vessel, exploring the insides and getting to know more about the duties of Bharathiya Thatta Rakshak via a movie was indeed memorable. Officers onboard were so accomadative of our children and their warm welcome put us at ease.
We explored the decks, were awestruck by instruments at the bridge and were explained about the duties of the chief officer onboard and how surveillance is regularly done.
The Coast Guard personnel Shri.VS Yadav and his team did a fantastic job of explaining their crucial role in maritime safety and security. We were particularly fascinated by the search and rescue operations, pollution control, policing and the measures taken to protect our coastline and even how a shop is anchored by the sea.
Along with this well guided tour inside Sujay, they patiently let us enjoy our learning experience and we created lasting memories of the whole experience.
Many thanks to Down Syndrome Federation of India(DSFI) and Rekha ma’am and all the parents present along with their children in making this event happen as a grand success.
